Fight against the spread of covid-19 in Cameroon : COPIC at the bedside of IDPs from Noso.
This humanitarian organization based in the United States of America with its executive president Jonathan Awasom and who campaign for the search for peace and security in the world is determined to break the chain of covid19 in Cameroon in general and to Douala in particular. For the past few days, COPIC has launched a life-saving operation, aimed at helping the vulnerable and the most disadvantaged social strata caught in the grip of the coronavirus pandemic.
Indeed, the COPIC Douala focal point Nadège Tatiana Mapigoue Ngounou and president of Afedec (association of women committed to the development of Cameroon) and certain leaders of associations like Octavie Mireille in charge of the Facebook page "the corner of Good deals "have come down to the field in order to come to the aid of the internally displaced persons of the English-speaking crisis who are struggling to protect themselves from the covid 19, for lack of financial and material means. These internally displaced persons of the English-speaking crisis, estimated at more than 300 souls, found refuge with a benefactor Dr. J. Mofor in the Makepe Missoke district in the district of Douala 5th. It is under the banner of the association called "ADDEC" (Association of the rights and duties of the citizens)
This fairly capital descent enabled the COPIC delegation to touch on the extreme misery and poverty that these compatriots face on a daily basis. They live in absolute promiscuity and regularly lack food and other various necessities. To prevent a massacre from occurring in this already harmful environment, the Donors have decided to offer them protection materials against the coronavirus such as soap, face masks, mufflers, hydroalcoholic gel, l bleach, liquid detergent as well as basic necessities such as rice, Sugar, salt, sardines, vegetable oil, pasta ...
According to Nadège Mapigoue president of afedec and COPIC Douala focal point, these internally displaced persons from the English-speaking crisis deserve special attention from the public authorities in this delicate period marked by the health crisis in Cameroon and throughout the world. Their benefactor already being out of breath for the daily care, launches a cry of distress and sos towards the place any person of good will wishing to bring food aid. The observation made on the ground is bitter. Because what is going to kill These abandoned people is famine and not Covid 19. They have an enormous need for food.
The action taken by COPIC and other sister associations has been highly praised by the main beneficiaries who are still asking for more. Furthermore, the recipients explain that since the advent of Containment, we are the first humanitarian organizations to take this action which would allow them to block the Coronavirus routine.
In the same spirit of generosity and solidarity, COPIC and other association leaders also stopped in an orphanage in the square behind Essec de Douala at a place called 7th Day Church. Here a large kit of protective equipment has also been graciously given to the person in charge of this orphanage, in particular, mufflers, masks, hydroalcoholic gel and everyday consumer products.
How was this burst of heart born ?
Octavie Mireille, well known on social networks and responsible for the Facebook page "the corner of Good Deals" contacted by a benefactress expressed her willingness to be associated in a humanitarian action that she planned to initiate in favor of vulnerable people . To block the way for the coronavirus pandemic. Without hesitation, Nadège Tatiana Mapigoue, founding president of Afedec and COPIC Douala focal point, very active in the community sector, responded favorably to this call and voluntarily joined this social project by bringing its contribution to its fair value. that the operation be carried out with complete peace of mind. COPIC in the light of the alarming observation made on the ground plans in the coming days to organize another descent with the aim of reducing the suffering of the internally displaced persons of the English-speaking crisis, some of whom have ceased their small income-generating activities since the first appearances of the coronavirus pandemic in Cameroon.
